Oxen Didn’t Make the Cut
Well its Friday, and I won’t use the cliche, “Thank God Its Friday!” sort of thing, but I guess I just did. This is a pretty extrodinary Friday being that I’m goin to see Sufjan Stevens tonight at the Bowery Ballroom, I hope to get some good pics and stuff to post here on Monday, so more news about that then.
Being a lazy hazy Friday in August no new artist today, I’ll just rehash on my popular My Morning Jacket post from earlier this week, people really seemed to like the Rocket Man cover and I figured I have another pretty rare track by those Kentucky boys so I might as well post it. This one is a live song that was “new” back in May of 2004 when they played it live, in I believe Minneapolis. In my expert My Morning Jacket opinion this song seemed to fit in more with It Still Moves, probably why it was left of Z, also something that Jim James commented on in the show they have an earlier song that was entitled, “How Do You Know?”, this one was tentively titled “How Could I Know?”, which James said was quite confusing to see on a setlist when you’re playing a live show. Thus it was titled “Oxen”, a title he was less than crazy about, and I’m sure it will turn up on some B-Sides soon.

UPDATE: My Old Kentucky Blog has an awesome cover of MMJ doing Erykah Badu’s “Tyrone”, check it out. Respek!
